National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA)

NRECA is the national service organization for more than 900 not-for-profit rural electric cooperatives and public power districts providing retail electric service to more than 42 million consumers in 47 states and whose retail sales account for approximately 12 percent of total electricity sales in the United States.


Michigan Municipal Electric Association (MMEA)

The American Public Power Association represents not-for-profit, community-owned electric utilities that power homes, businesses and streets in nearly 2,000 towns and cities, serving 48 million Americans.


Kansas Municipal Utilities (KMU)

Kansas Municipal Utilities is the statewide association representing Kansas cities and other public or not-for-profit agencies involved in the ownership and operation of municipal utilities. Formed in 1928, KMU provides assistance and information to members with regard to legislative and regulatory issues, training and educational programs, and numerous other services towards the advancement of municipal utilities and to achieve maximum benefits for the customer-owners served by our utilities.


Indiana Municipal Electric Association (IMEA)

The IMEA has operated as the statewide service association representing the issues and concerns of municipally owned and operated electric utilities while promoting the benefits and public power business model since 1941. IMEA serves the unified interests of Indiana’s 72 public power communities as well as a forum for electric utilities to pool resources for effective leadership, representation, advocacy, education, training and protection.


Investment Recovery Association (IRA)

Northwest Public Power Association (NWPPA)

Northwest Public Power Association (NWPPA) is a not for profit association of 153 public/people’s utility districts, electric cooperatives, municipalities and crown corporations in the Western U.S. and Canada.

NWPPA also serves the networking needs of over 300 Associate Members across the U.S. and Canada who are allied with the electric utility industry.


Michigan Electric Cooperative Association (MECA)

Nationally, electric co-ops serve 7 consumers per mile of line, compared with 35 consumers per line for investor-owned utilities and 47 consumers per mile for municipal systems.

Electric co-ops invest more in facilities per member than any other utilities but earn 85 percent less revenue per mile of line.


Iowa Association of Municipal Utilities (IAMU)

IAMU represents more than 540 municipal electric, gas, water, stormwater, and broadband utilities statewide, and maintains a marketing relationship with a large number of associate member businesses.
